Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1643 - February 24, 1704) was a French composer of the Baroque era. He was a prolific & versatile composer, mainly of sacred vocal music, & was one of the best known coeval of Jean-Baptiste Lully.
Life
He was innate around or even touching Paris. Little is known of his early life, & possibly the approximate date of his birth is questioned; these are known that he was a "young man" once he exposed inside Rome, probably between 1662 and 1667. When around Rome he exposed by owning Giacomo Carissimi; an old legend of his going to Rome to survey painting, before his musical talent existence found by Carissimi, is undocumented. Music, style and influence
His compositions include oratorios, masses, operas, and many little pieces which are then hard to categorize.
