Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1643 - February 24, 1704) was a French composer of the Baroque era. He was a prolific & versatile composer, mainly of sacred vocal music, & was one of the best known coeval of Jean-Baptiste Lully.

Life

He was innate around or even touching Paris. Little is known of his early life, & possibly the approximate date of his birth is questioned; these are known that he was a "young man" once he exposed inside Rome, probably between 1662 and 1667.
